Selects Harry J. Hicks to be
Associate Chief Counsel (International)

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service Office of Counsel announced today the selection of Harry J. (“Hal”) Hicks, III for the position of Associate Chief Counsel (International). Hicks will join the Office on June 9, 2003, and will serve as Acting Associate Chief Counsel (International) during the approval process.

As Associate Chief Counsel (International), Hicks will direct the approximately 100 attorneys who provide tax advisory and litigation services on international tax matters to the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Treasury and other government agencies and the public. He will also manage the Advance Pricing Agreement program that enables corporate taxpayers to resolve transfer pricing issues through upfront negotiations with the IRS.
