Rhodes Named Assistant Commissioner
for Collections

WASHINGTON - Commissioner of Internal Revenue Margaret Milner Richardson announced Ronald S. Rhodes as the new Assistant Commissioner (Collection). Rhodes, who was the National Director of Service Center Compliance, replaces Steve Taylor, who retired in February.

In this position, Rhodes is responsible for directing nationwide programs for collecting overdue taxes and investigating nonfilers, including service center compliance operations, field collection components, and automated collection call sites.

"Collecting taxes due has always been a key IRS assignment, but the techniques used by collection are rapidly changing to accommodate new technologies," Richardson said. "I'm confident that Ronny has the experience and skill needed to make our collection efforts more efficient while reducing taxpayer burden."

Rhodes began his IRS career In 1973 as a revenue representative. He held numerous management positions in the Dallas, Austin, Houston, Anchorage and San Jose districts. He was selected for the executive development program in 1991.

Rhodes received his bachelor's degree in Business Management from Texas Wesleyan University.
