Taxbreak '95

WASHINGTON - Taxbreak '95, IRS' perennial, timely, and informative one-hour television program for individual income tax filers, will air on public television channels on Sunday, February 5 at 3:00 p.m. (ET)

The show will highlight the earned income tax credit and the option to receive it in advance through paychecks, new tax law changes, casualty loss deductions and independent contractors.

Nationally known television weatherman Willard Scott will host the program. Scott will talk with Anna Banks with the National Association of Tax Practitioners, James Forrester with the National Association of Enrolled Agents and Barbara Kerr with the IRS in Milwaukee about filing options and IRS assistance.

Several segments in the program profile an extended family that includes two parents who both work, a teenager who will be filing for the first time, a part-time nanny and a senior citizen. Their individual tax filing situations are analyzed by the experts, who advise viewers of the best way to file returns.

With toll-free telephone assistance available by calling 1-800-829-1040, IRS tax experts will stand by to answer questions phoned in by the home audience, both during the program and for one hour afterward.
