IRS Names Executive for
Electronic Filing Strategy

WASHINGTON - Peggy C. Rule is appointed the executive for electronic filing for the Internal Revenue Service.

In this newly-created position Rule is responsible for planning, directing and implementing the activities for electronic funds transfer and electronic returns filing in the IRS. She represents the chief taxpayer service on issues related to electronic filing and coordinates with the submission processing and computing center site executive as well ~_ _ center executives to ensure delivery of all aspects of electronic filing strategy, including procurement, training and marketing.

Rule began her IRS career in 1973 as a tax auditor in San Francisco, Calif., where she held various management positions before becoming chief examination branch in Laguna Niguel, in 1986. In 1988 she was named assistant chief examination division in Dallas, Texas, and in 1990 was selected chief employee plans/exempt organizations division.

After completing the IRS Executive Selection and Development program in 1992, she was named assistant to the regional commissioner in the Southwest Region. In 1993 Rule became assistant district director in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the position she held until this appointment.

Rule has a bachelor's degree in history from Stanford University, and is a certified public accountant. She was born in Palo Alto, Calif., is married, and has two children.
