This credit is for certain people who have three or more qualifying children. The additional child tax credit may give you a refund even if you do not owe any tax.

Form 8812. You must file Form 8812, Additional Child Tax Credit, to take the additional child tax credit. To see if you qualify to take this additional credit, read your Form 1040 instructions for lines 47 and 62 or your Form 1040A instructions for lines 30 and 39. A copy of Form 8812 is shown later.
